Blio is a free e-reader software application developed by noted futurist and inventor Ray Kurzweil. Unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), the platform was created by KNFB Reading Technology in a content partnership with book distributor Baker & Taylor.
Unlike traditional E-Ink e-readers that strip away complex formatting, Blio was specifically designed to preserve full-color layouts, rich graphics, and strict typography. This makes it uniquely suited for visually intensive digital media like children’s books, cookbooks, textbooks, and travel guides. Key Features of Blio
Layout Preservation: Retains the exact formatting, fonts, page structures, and color illustrations of the physical print book.
Advanced Accessibility: Features a robust text-to-speech engine that highlights words as they are read aloud. It includes highly optimized features for visually impaired readers or those with dyslexia.
ReadLogic Technology: Automatically zooms and navigates to the next logical section of a page (such as adjacent sidebars or captions).
Flexible Views: Supports standard single/dual page layouts, a flowing text view, 3D page flips, and a rapid visual presentation mode for speed reading.
Interactive Media: Embeds interactive elements like hyperlinked notes, web resources, video playback, and quizzes directly inside the pages.
The Blio Bookvault: A virtual cloud library that allows cross-device synchronization and license sharing for up to five separate devices. Ecosystem and Content
